Shenandoah FC Elite’s Pre-Travel Soccer Program

The Pre-Travel Soccer Program is specially designed for 2011 and 2012 players (rising U8s and U7s) who are more serious about soccer, that excel in their teams and need a more competitive and challenging environment to develop as young athletes. The Pre-Travel Soccer Program is designed to provide a competitive atmosphere while furnishing the players with positive experiences to nurture their self-esteem, confidence, and passion for the game.

Professional coaches will apply age-appropriate training curriculum focused primarily on foot skills, and the introduction of basic soccer concepts in order to offer the highest development program for U8s and U7s.

We will form two Pre-Travel Soccer pools: U8 Boys/ U8 Girls (2011 Players) and U7 Boys/ U7 Girls (2012 Players). The pools will train with professional staff during the season.

The U7 and U8 pools will train once a week for seven weeks and then participate in our Elite Friendlies.

  • To improve players Technical Skills (Dribbling, 1v1, Passing-Receiving, and Finishing)

  • To make smarter soccer players (THINKERS) - start working on their perception and decision-making depending on game situations (on/off the ball)

  • To improve motor skills and sport specific fitness (coordination, balance, and agility)

  • To develop passion and love for the sport of soccer

  • To prepare players for the transition to travel soccer at U9

What is it?

Shenandoah FC Elite’s Pre-Travel Soccer Program is the first program of its kind in this area and this special program to provide an introduction to travel soccer for U7 (2012) and U8 (2011) boys and girls who are interested in training at a higher level.. Although by no means only for children intending to play travel soccer someday, the program is ideal for U8 players who may be interested in trying out for spring 2019 travel (tryouts TBA) or for U7’s who want to tryout a year early or just to get that extra training and exposure to the professional SFCE coaching staff. Some weeks will feature primarily training with some in house scrimmages and we usually play home and away scrimmages with a neighboring club.

Who does the training?

The spring program training will be done by a variety of our professional coaches so the children have exposure to a variety of coaching styles.

Wednesdays: 5:30-6:45 -  3/27, 4/3, 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, and 5/8.

at Shenandoah University’s Aikens Field (Next to Goodson Chapel)
