Q: What is the purpose of a merger between VRSC and SFCE?


A: SFCE and VRSC leadership feel that by combining player pools, staff, facilities and resources, it is likely that youth players in Western Loudoun County and the Shenandoah Valley would have more opportunities to develop and play at a higher level.

Q: What does the merger mean?

A: Shenandoah FC Elite Soccer Club will join VA Revolution Soccer Club as a merger of two entities. The merged club will operate under the VA Revolution Soccer Club name. All locations of VRSC (VRSC Leesburg and VRSC Winchester will operate with the same philosophy and club mission with regard to training, developing excellence in its players and providing various levels of soccer to those who wish to play.

Q: How will tryouts for the 2021-2022 season be conducted? Will all players from VRSC and SFCE tryout together or will there be separate tryouts?

A: All players currently with VRSC and SFCE will register for tryouts through the VRSC website and online registration platform. The merged VRSC club will hold tryouts at the “home base” locations for Competitive levels. All tryout information will be released on at later date.

Q: Are we keepings our teams together?

A: Teams will not intentionally be split up; however, each player has the opportunity to try out at whatever location they choose and will be placed accordingly.

Q: Where will VRSC teams train and play matches?

A: Both VRSC Leesburg and VRSC Winchester Williams will continue to hold train sessions and play matches in their “home base” locations at VRSC Sportsplex, Shenandoah University, and Handley High School.

Q: What is the Revolution Academy?
 
A: Since our start in 2018, the Academy has become a cornerstone of our club. The academy is designed for kids of 4-12 years old of all skill levels. We aim to create a fun and learning environment where we can foster the love for the game and teach the fundamentals needed to be successful in the game. Our efforts have proven successful with many of our former academy players now in our Revolution Travel Program.  

Q: What is the VA Revolution Pre-Tryout Program?

A: As a club we are excited to officially present our Pre-Travel Program! This program is designed to create a high-level training environment for U8-U9 players in preparation to join our Travel Program. All players will be selected by our professional coaching staff to ensure a quality training environment is created with like-minded players. Spots for this program will be limited. Our staff will implement an age-appropriate curriculum to challenge and encourage development and advancement of foot skills, decision-making, competition and above all love for the beautiful game. 
 
Q: How much of the current staff will be retained for the upcoming years?

A: The current SFCE staff will become part of the VRSC staff. Executive Director Niko Eckart is working with current SFCE Executive Director Cosmo Balio to review and appropriately place all staff members in the merged club.

Q: Does everyone have to purchase new uniforms?

A: VRSC will be entering a new uniform cycle, so current SFCE players will need a new uniform as a result of the merger. Puma will be the new uniform brand of VRSC.

Q: How will club fees change?

A: No significant club fees changes are anticipated as a result of the merged club for the 2021-2022 season for the SFCE families.
